Summertime is a great time to get outdoors and enjoy the weather, but it’s also a time when homeowners need to take extra precautions with their plumbing. From fixing a leaky faucet to getting ready for the coming winter, follow these tips to keep your home’s plumbing running smoothly all summer long.

  1. Main Water shut Off

This is something all homeowners should familiarize themselves with. Having an easy to get to water shut off device may save your bacon in case of a plumbing leak or worse, an emergency. Gary's Plumbing and Heating has installed water shut off devices for folks under their kitchen sink or in their garage for convenience. That way, no time is wasted when the water may be spraying.

  2. Hose Bibs

Getting into gardening? A well placed hose bib may be just the ticket for those thirsty tomato plants. Ask our Gary's team about the frost free ones, they're not likely to freeze up during the winter months.

  3. Sump Pump

Summer can bring some heavy rains, so a sump pump may save your basement from flooding. Also, make sure it's in proper working order periodically by simply pouring a bucket of water down the drain, wait for the flushing sound it makes to properly make sure the water is moving out where it's supposed to. If you're in a flood prone area, call Gary's to install a sump pump for you. You'll be happy you did.

  4. Water Pressure

Any change in your water pressure could spell trouble. You could have a leak that may increase over time, causing a high water bill and or property damage. Gary's expertise is highly regarded for and recommended by local water districts in Bellingham, Ferndale and Whatcom County.

  5. Stainless Washing Machine Hose

Does your home have a rubber hose connected to the washing machine? Well, it's going to give out once you go on vacation this summer, Murphy's Law! Prevent unwanted flooding by having our team replace that rubber hose with a high quality stainless one.
