December 12, 2023

As the colder months approach, it's crucial to ensure your home's heating system is ready for the winter. To help you stay warm and safe, we've put together a concise 10-item Winter Heating Checklist. Following these steps will not only enhance your home's comfort but also improve energy efficiency and safety. Let's get your home winter-ready!

Furnace Inspection: Schedule a professional inspection of your furnace to ensure it's in good working condition.

Filter Replacement: Change or clean the furnace filters. This should be done every 1-3 months during heating season.

Thermostat Check: Test your thermostat to make sure it's functioning properly and consider upgrading to a smart thermostat for better efficiency.

Duct Cleaning: Consider having your ducts cleaned to improve air flow and efficiency.

Insulation Check: Ensure your home is properly insulated, especially in areas like attics and basements.

Window and Door Seals: Check for drafts around windows and doors. Use weatherstripping or caulk to seal any leaks.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors: Test and replace batteries in your carbon monoxide detectors.

Emergency Contacts: Keep Gary's Plumbing & Heating contact information handy in case of any heating          emergencies. Our phone number is (360) 255-0589.

Heating Vents: Make sure all vents are clear of furniture or blockages for proper heat distribution.

Water Heater Inspection: Don't forget about your water heater. Consider a professional inspection to ensure it's ready for increased winter usage.
